<\/a>Welcome to the Annual Education Conference of the Kentucky Workers\u2019 Compensation Education Association. We are very pleased to have you join us.<\/p>\nThis year\u2019s Conference is highlighted by two distinct themes that most all of us are involved with on a daily basis \u2013 prescription drugs and litigation. In addition to our annual case law update, our first day will focus on prescription drug abuse in general and Kentucky\u2019s landmark \u201cPill Mill Bill\u201d in particular. Speakers in this segment include Van Ingram, Executive Director of the Kentucky Office of Drug Control Policy who played a major role in developing this legislation. He will discuss its success as well as continued dissatisfaction from the provider community. Also featured will be our highest rated speakers, Rosalie Faris, RN describing what you should look for in the medical record as a result of the \u201cPill Mill Bill\u201d and last year\u2019s dynamic hit, Dr. Robert Barth, who will present \u201cDetermining Injury Relatedness, Work Relatedness and Claim Relatedness\u201d.<\/p>\n
Day Two is devoted to presenting and examining the Life Cycle of a Complex Workers\u2019 Compensation Claim. Through role playing (see our exemplary cast) and narration (Chief ALJ Overfield) we demonstrate the details of comp claims adjusting and litigation. We will present actual depositions, depict a BRC and hearing, critique strategy and offer alternative approaches and learn the roles of specific individuals in this detailed process, beginning with the claimant and ending at the Court of Appeals. This is based upon an actual case picked by Commissioner Lovan.<\/p>\n
